Atlanta Interior Design
Distinctive
interiors, European flair
Old World Design is a full-service Atlanta interior design
company specializing in adapting traditional European designs
for the way Atlantans live today. If you love the styles of
Paris, Provence, Rome, Venice, Tuscany and other great European
places, Diane Edwards’ team at Old World Design can help you use
them to create distinctive rooms that suit your lifestyle now.
Our projects run the gamut of size, style, and budget. Some
involve exterior architectural design, or designing a room or
exterior “garden room” from scratch in consultation with you.
Others involve helping you find the perfect touches to add to
your evolving style and tone.
For example, on a recent project, we used a striking set of
antique doors and accompanying trim to create a modern interior
doorway and coordinating dining room panel treatments that were
distinctive, solid and easy to live with.
Whatever the scale, however, the goal is always the same:
exceptional designs inspired by, and inspiring to, you. We work
closely with you from start to finish – from design conception
to project management and final installation.
The interior design
process and you |
|
|
The process of interior design should begin with your own
personal tastes and the way you live now. At Old World Design,
we start by getting to know you, understanding how you live, and
understanding your goals. Then we identify your parameters:
Which room or rooms are we dealing with? What’s on your “must
have” list? Where do you feel like you need the most help?
What’s your budget?
Next, we present concepts and a direction for getting started.
Ideally, this presentation is more of a road map for discovery
than a set-in-stone plan. This approach provides us with a guide
when evaluating furnishings, fabrics, wall coverings,
architectural details and decorative items. It’s a flexible
approach that allows us to incorporate and feature truly
outstanding pieces to create the look you want.
Typically, the next step is shopping: visits to furniture and
furnishings showrooms and antique dealers to “try on” styles,
environments and signature pieces. Here’s where the magic
happens! Diane’s relationships and knowledge put thousands of
options at your fingertips – and recommend ways to make them
come together into an integrated environment. As you’ll see,
there’s nothing quite like choosing a key piece
up-close-and-personal. Often, this step in the process reveals
that once-in-a-lifetime selection that can make your space truly
unique. Diane prides herself on her ability to incorporate these
unique finds into the design of a space, complementing them with
an eclectic mix of complementary features and surfaces.
Now for the nitty-gritty! Once the decisions are made, we
handle procurement, installation and tracking against a master
schedule. We oversee deliveries, inspecting them for accuracy
and quality control. We also supervise and sign off on painting,
window coverings, wallpapering, electrical, appliance
installation, carpentry, stonework, plumbing and more. If an
architect is also involved, we review plans and coordinate
interior design work with any structural changes that are
required. In short, we make it all come together for you.
Last, the final walkthrough. Old World Design completes each
project with a “closing ceremony”. It’s a time to relish and
celebrate the final results – so you can begin enjoying your new
environment!
